Personalized CD: This course offered an engaging introduction to environmental challenges and opportunities, blending classroom learning with immersive experiences. We explored the connections between humans and ecosystems through field trips, such as a boat tour of the Saco River and ocean to study the breakwall, a visit to the university’s sustainability features, and a tour of a salmon hatchery. Readings like Uncle Sam and Mother Earth and The Omnivore’s Dilemma deepened our understanding of environmental issues, with reflective essays tying personal habits to broader ecological impacts. Collaborative projects on environmental activists and endangered species encouraged teamwork and critical thinking. By combining real-world exploration with academic inquiry, this class inspired us to see ourselves as active participants in creating a more sustainable future.
