Beyond Class Activity: Extracurricular

At the beginning of the year I joined the Community News Fellow Program, where students are paired with a local news outlets to help cover stories and support local news. I paired up with Saco Bay News and began my first story at the end of September. It was about the local elementary cross-country program at the Dayton, Biddeford, and Saco elementary schools. I had an amazing time taking photos and being a part of the program’s practices and meets. The children sported bright smiles the entire time and there was barely any conflict between teammates, which was great to see. When I talked to the coach from Saco, Susan Ray, she said this atmosphere of inclusivity and friendliness was an everyday occurrence!
